WalkQuest Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
WalkQuest turns walking into virtual travel progress. The app is intended for users aged 13 and older.
Information We Process
- Step count — only after you grant Android Health Connect permission.
- App preferences and local progress — routes, unlocked cities, passport stamps, achievements, daily goals, streaks, language, theme, advertising and premium state, and synchronization state.
- Purchase and entitlement information — product identifier, purchase status, entitlement status, and expiry or ticket state needed to provide purchased features.
- App usage and diagnostic information — Firebase Analytics events and Firebase Crashlytics crash and diagnostic data.
- Advertising information — device identifiers, IP address, device information, and ad interaction data may be processed by Google Mobile Ads as described below.
How We Use Information
- Step count is used only to calculate progress on virtual routes, unlock cities, update daily goals, calculate achievements, and display travel statistics.
- Local progress and preferences are used to provide and personalize app features.
- Purchase information is used to unlock Premium features and paid transport tickets.
- Analytics and diagnostic information is used to understand app usage, improve features, and diagnose crashes.
- Advertising information is used to request, display, measure, and prevent fraud in ads according to your consent choices and Google's policies.
- WalkQuest does not require an account.
Health Connect
- WalkQuest requests read access to step count only.
- Permission is requested only when you enable real step synchronization.
- Health Connect data is not sold, shared, transferred, or used for advertising.
- You can revoke Health Connect permission in Android settings at any time.
- If Health Connect is unavailable, the rest of the app can still be used.
Local Storage and Retention
- Route progress, preferences, achievements, and entitlement state are stored locally on your device.
- WalkQuest does not currently use a backend account system or cloud storage for this information.
- Optional backup export creates a local JSON file that you choose where to save or share.
- Local data remains until you reset it, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app.
- Google and Firebase retain data they process according to their own retention settings and policies.
Advertising and Consent
Free users may see banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads provided by Google AdMob. Premium users do not see ads after Premium is active.
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, WalkQuest uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising consent. Depending on your choice and the available legal basis, Google may serve personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads.
You can change or withdraw your advertising choice from Settings → Ad privacy options whenever this option is required and available. Health Connect data and step counts are never used for advertising.
Google may process device identifiers, IP address, device information, approximate location derived from IP, and ad interaction information. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Purchases
WalkQuest may offer monthly and yearly Premium subscriptions, a one-time Lifetime Premium purchase, and train, ferry, or flight ticket products through Google Play Billing.
Google Play processes payment details. WalkQuest does not receive or store your full payment-card information. The app stores only the purchase and entitlement state required to provide purchased features.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
WalkQuest uses Firebase Analytics for app-usage events and Firebase Crashlytics for crash and diagnostic reports. These services may process device and app information, identifiers, and technical diagnostics. WalkQuest does not intentionally send step counts or Health Connect data to these services.
See Google's Privacy Policy for more information.
